Neil At code.talks 2024!

This year, our CEO Neil Emeigh was invited to participate in code.talks! That’s one small step for code.talks, but a big leap for us!

Joking aside, it was a huge honor for us to be included in such a bustling event. So, how did it go?

What Is code.talks?

For those that don’t know, code.talks is one of the biggest and noteworthy conferences in Europe. Taking place in Hamburg, Germany, the 2-day event offers exactly what the name suggests: discussions across software developments, trends and innovations.

It’s been going on for over a decade and annually attracts more than 3,000 business and tech leaders. This year was no different, with 130 speakers across 120 talks. It’ll keep you busy!

Tech conferences are a dime a dozen, but code.talks is one of the very best. It combines developers, engineers and business leaders alike. It’s a meeting point for tech enthusiasts, but also those who understand the power of the right technologies in the right business.

And that’s where we come in! 😉

Neil On Scraping

They say write what you know, so Neil took to the stage to talk about scraping. And with a panel on “If you can build a scraper, can you make it into a business?”, who better to invite?

Rayobyte was founded to deliver the most performant proxies for all manner of needs. This, combined with our Scraping Robot project means that, yes, we did turn scraping into a business 😎

The answer, as you might’ve guessed, is a little more complex than that. It would be better to say that we didn’t turn scraping into a business, we turned delivering the tools and means for effective ethical scraping into a business.

Of course, a panel isn’t a solo act, so we’d like to thank the other panel members for their contributions and insights, too! Thank you to ScraperAPI’s Zoltan Bettenbuk, gominga eService’s Petur Agustsson and SaaS Group’s Anna Nadeina. It was great to share our 45 minutes of fame with you.

This wasn’t our first time meeting Zoltan. Both Neil and Zoltan have a lot of thoughts on the future of web scraping. Want to know more? Check out this interview between the pair.

What Else Can You Learn At code.talks?

Now, the marketing in us would love to tell you that Neil’s insights were the biggest and best thing about code.talks, but it’s a two day event and, while we’re sure our CEO could talk for that long 😉 a little diversity never hurt anyone, no?

Topics at code.talks range from business practices, design topics, coding and gaming. In fact, one name stood out for us. John Romero… yes, John ‘Designer of Doom, Wolfenstein and Quake’ Romero. And yes, Neil did stop to get some signed stuff from him because you just would, wouldn’t you?

That probably gives you a good idea of the general vibe and expertise of the code.talks crowd!

Would We Go Back?

Ja! Code.talks proved to be a fantastic event (as if there was any doubt!) with a diverse range of insightful topics. There’s a reason it’s a key event in the European tech calendar. Even if you’re coming from the US, it’s worth the trip!

If you weren’t able to attend, have any questions or just want to talk… get in touch! Neil doesn’t need to be on stage to talk, you can reach out directly over on LinkedIn.

Thank you code.talks for inviting us!
