Talha Khawar is our group accountant here at Rayobyte. I had heard through the grapevine that he was working on a special project outside of work, and I was curious to learn more about it!
Talha lives in Pakistan in the city of Lahore, in Punjab Province. He is in the process of building a new home. When I asked Talha what motivated him to build a house he spoke very fondly of his high school sweetheart who became his fiance, and what he envisions their future life to be like in that home, surrounded by family and friends. In addition to his focus on providing for his family, he is excited about living further from the city center and enjoying a more quiet lifestyle with less traffic and noise and more immersed in nature. His new home is near a stream and is surrounded by trees.
Talha has two older brothers who live in Australia. Those two brothers also built their own homes, which inspired Talha and gave him the confidence that he could do the same. There may be a hint of competitive nature at play here!
Talha walked me through some of the processes he went through when working with a builder. He said it sometimes felt like new challenges were popping up daily, but they were always things that could be resolved with patience.
One thing that stood out to me during our conversation was how much Talha cares about his family. His house is being built for everyone close to him. He has meticulously planned for his brothers and his parents so that they all have a comfortable room in which to stay while they visit. He wants his home to be their home as well.
One of Talha’s childhood dreams is to host a barbeque! In the video, he describes how he envisions this special event, and it makes me smile thinking of all of the people he is going to bring together to make that day special. This is truly what “bringing great ideas to life” is all about.
I asked Talha if he has other big ideas in mind for the future. Can he use this experience to give him confidence and motivate him to bring other ideas to life? He focused again on his family and the smiles as he says that all he wants is to provide well for them. He is happy that he has made his parents proud and he is always motivated by making others happy.
Talha has been with Rayobyte for over two years, so I was curious to know what advice he has for anyone new coming into the company. He spoke of the benefits of working remotely and having a good work-life balance because you are spending less time commuting and have more time for family. He feels that Rayobyte has provided a culture of communication and inclusion. Talha loves delivering his work with a smile and I see how infectious this can be!
