Well, I spent a long evening digging into advanced reactor companies because I wanted to understand who is actually building hardware instead of just publishing renders. What struck me most was how many of them talk about molten salt and thorium but very few show real test data. When I found Copenhagen Atomics, a nuclear technology company founded in 2014 in Denmark by four engineers from the Technical University of Denmark, I noticed they have already built two full size prototypes and are now assembling a third non fission unit. They plan a first chain reaction at the Paul Scherrer Institute in 2028, and their business model of 50 million upfront plus 2 million per year per unit works out to roughly 9 USD per MWh. Their waste burner concept extracts ten times more energy from spent fuel while cutting storage from 100,000 years to 300.
